Climate information

Namibia is a country next to the sea, however Namibia has a mostly dessert climate.
In some parts of Namibia rain is very, very special. You will definitly see the locals very happy when it is raining. They don't like it when tourists are unhappy with the rain, so please keep in mind that Namibia has two major desserts and is a very dry country.

In Namibia they only use two seasons: summer (November - April: rainseason) and winter (May - October: dry season).

Summer
The summer is the rainseason for Namibia. During the summer most days start with a bright blue sky, during lunch time the first clouds apear on the sky and at some days, in the late afternoon these clouds will produce a heavy rainshower. Generally you can see the rain coming, otherwise you will definitly feel the humidity rising just before a rainshower.
The temperatures in the summer are very nice, around 30 degrees constant. The humidity is very low, so you don't sweat like hell.

Winter
The word 'winter' mostly means cold weather with snow, ice and lots of rain, at least for European standards. But winter in Namibia is not comparible to European Winters.
The nights at the Namibian highlands (Windhoek) and in the desserts can be reasonably cold. In 2007 night temperatures in Windhoek dropt to -3, day temperatures however are fine, around 20 degrees.
The start of the winter is maybe the best time to visit Namibia. The rain is gone, the air is free of dust, trees and plants are still green and most times the sky is as blue as you can get it.
