Etosha

Etosha is a large game park in the north of Namibia. The great thing about Etosha is, that you are alowed to drive around the park yourself.
All the roads in Etosha are sand and accessible for 2wd. Some roads are a little bit bumby for 2wd, so don't drive to fast.
In the rainseason some roads can change into a mudroad, don't drive your 2wd into these waters, you don't know how deep the water is, if you are driving a 4x4, than you don't have any problems with the mud and water.

A 4x4 can be very usefull in Etosha, because these cars are in general higher than 2wd's. If you have a higher car, you can probably spot the animals earlier.
But you can always ask other drivers if they have spotted some animals, and they will like it, if you tell them if you spotted animals. Just co-operate with one and each other.

Animals
You can almost see all African animals in Etosha, except the Buffalo.
Throughout Etosha you are not allowed to leave your car. There are some 'safe-area's' where you can get out of your car, near Andoni is a safe area.
The speed limit in Etosha is 60 km/h, this is also to prevent you colliding with an animal, the elephants and other animals cross the street without watching the cars, so be carefull.
The best places to see the animals, is to go to the waterholes, just park your car, and wait, the animals will come.

Accomodation
• Okaukuejo: a large bungalow park at aproximately 20 km from the    Anderson Gate.
• Halali: a smaller bungalow park in the centre of Etosha with a beautifull    waterhole, where you often find elephants and rhino's.
• Namutoni: a large bungalow park at aproximately 15 km from the Von    Lindequist Gate.
All the NWR resorts also have campsites available.

The old accomodation is like you expect the NWR accomodation. But the new bungalows which are being build in all the resorts are really beautifull

Outsite Etosha you can also find some superb resorts, maybe better than the resorts in Etosha. Some of these resorts are very expensive, but if you have a close look at some of them, you can definitly find one suiting your budget.
