Empire State Building

The Empire State Building was built in 1930, and was finished 1,5 year later.
The Empire State Building was built due to a contest between New York businessman, about who was able to built the first and highest building in New York. At the end, it was clear that the Empire State building had won the battle. With it's 381 meter it was by far the tallest building in town.
From it's finish untill 1971 the Empire State was also the highest building in the world. But in 1971 the World Trade Center finished the construction of the Twin Towers, which by then were the highest building in the world.

One of the amazing parts of the design is the docking station for airships. An antenna was placed on top of the roof, with the plan that airships could connect to the antenna. But the first and last attempt, showed it was to dangerous, in fact, it was almost inpossible to dock an airship at that highed to the Empire State Building.

Throughout the year's, the Empire State Building have been in the news a lot. At the end of the Second World War a plane hit the Empire State Building.
But luckelly enough, the damage was easy to repare. A few year's later, the Empire State Building shocked everybody when an elivator with passengers fell down the shaft, but luckelly everybody survived.

Nowaday's, the Empire State Building is the highest building in New York again. Caused by the terrorist attacks and the collapse of the World Trade Center.
