Chrysler Building

The Chrysler Building (319m) is one of the best known Art-Deco buildings in New York.
The Chrysler Building was also built in a contest between several businessman, about who was able to built the first and highest skyscraper in
New York. The Empire State Building was also one of the contesting buildings. The Chrysler Building won this battle in 1930, but one year later the Empire State Building (381m) was finished and was by far the highest building in town.
During the built of the Chrysler Building it was unsure who was going to win the battle. Everybody thought that a smaller building in Downtown Manhatten was going to win the contest. But a top secret building project within the top of the Chrysler Building suprised everybody. On a clear day, the steel top of the tower of more than 60 meters was put on the roof. With this amazing structure, the Chrysler Building became the highest building.

The Chrysler Building is known as one of the most beautifull buildings in the skyline of New York.
