Piccadilly Circus
Piccadilly has been built in 1819 to connect Regent Street and Piccadilly.
The old shape of Piccadilly Circus has made place for several new roads and is now a major intersection of roads in the centre of London.
In the past (around 1893), a statue was built in the middle of the circus. The statue can now be found in the south-west corner of the circus. During World War II the government removed the statue from the circus, so it couldn't be damaged by German bombs.
You can also find the famous, gigantic neon signs at the corner of Piccadilly Circus. Today the neon signs are only allowed in one corner, in the past you could find neon signs all around the circus.
Piccadilly Circus is also known for the beatifull architecture of the surrounding buildings, it is the effort to look up at some times.
A lot of people refer Piccadilly Circus as the central point in London, officially this is not true, but we got the point. As a tourist you can find everything around Piccadilly Circus: shops, tourist information, places of interest, etc. Piccadilly Circus is for that reason, one of the major and best known tourist attractions in London.
Piccadilly Circus is the perfect place to start your route in the centre of London, go shopping or walk your way to Buckingham Palace, or wherever you go, you will see plenty of things.
Below Piccadilly Circus is a major tube station with an intersection of the Piccadilly line and the Bakerloo line, this means that you can also get to nearly any please in London by the London underground from Piccadilly Circus.
