Buckingham Palace

In the early 18th century, Buckingham Palace was built for the Duke of Buckingham. Later in the century King George III declared 'the Queen's House' as a private ressidence. In the following years buildings were built around the existing 'Queen's House'. In 1837 the last and final building rose up at the sight of Buckingham Palace, including the present-day public face of Buckingham Palace.

The Palace is 108 meter wide and 120 meters deep, with an total of 77.000 square meters. Inside the Palace you can find around the 775 rooms of which are 78 bathrooms. You can also find an indoor swimmingpool, chapel, restaurant for the staff and a very large ballroom.

The Changing of the Guard takes place in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace around 11 a.m. every day in summer andevery other day in winter. The New Guard marches to the Palace from Wellington Barracks with a Guards band.
Many tourist visit the Changing of the Gaurds everyday, so it will be bussy when you plan to go there, if you want to have a clear sight, you must arive early.

You can also go with an organized tour that will bring you inside the Palace. You will go into some of the rooms and have a look at the art collection.
The tour lasts about 2-2.5 hours and cost you around £15,-
