Crime and Safety
London was attacked by terrorist bombs in 2005, in 2007 terrorists tried to bomb London again, but this time the bombs didn't went of. In the past year's London is in a continues battle against terrosism. But this should not be a reason of not visiting London. London is an incredible safe city, with on of the most CCTV surveillance in the world.
The entire city of London has more than 7 million civillians. Remember that in any city of this kind, crime will occur. As a tourist you must always be aware of that. But if you behave 'normal' you will probably not get in contact with the London crime, at least if you stick to the city centre.
Some of the residential suburbs of London do have a higher crime level than the rest of London, but these are far out the city centre.
Emergency numbers
In case of problems, you can always call 112 of 999 (both are free) to get in contact with police, ambulance or the fire department.
In case you will need medical assitance (a doctor or a hospital), you can dial the free number: 100, where you will be informed where the closest hospital and GP can be found.
Currency
In the United Kingdom the Pound is used as their local currency.
In London you can not pay with Euro's or US Dollars, however you can find many Bureau de Change's in the city centre.

Tip
When you have dinner in a restaurant it is normal to give a tip, in London this tip is normally 10-15% of the total amount spent.
