Climate information

London is known for its rough climate, some even say that London doesn't have a climate, but that is not true. Yes, it rains very often in London, but if you look at the averages, London has not more rain than Amsterdam or Brussels.

There is not a rainperiod or something like that in London, rain can fall throughout the year. The best weather can be expected during the summer, but be prepared for a rainshower, take your umbralla or raincoat with you if you are going to explore the city. Don't be upset if it is raining cats and dogs, there is plenty to do in the city centre, many museums and enough shops and shoppingmalls you can explore. And if you are getting really bored, you can start exploring the architecture of the London underground.

The coldest period in London is during the winter, around January, with an average temperature around 6 degrees celcius. It is very rare that temperatures in London will get below zero.

The warmest period in London is during the summer, around August with an average temperature of 22 degrees celcius and sometimes getting near the 30 degrees celcius. The summer of 2003 was a real exception, the temperature in London was one of the highest in Europe in that summer. Extraordinary temperatures of 37,9 degrees celcius were measured in the city centre. This is probably the best proof that the weather in London can be excellent.
