Transport in Cape Town

Cape Town has a fine public transport system, only this is crowded most of the times, so for tourists not the perfect solution to see the town.

Minibus:
In Cape Town you can find minbusses driving standard routes, just like the public transport, only much cheaper. Almost all the minibusses depart from the upper level of the train station.

Tourists can use Rikki Taxi's, a minibus especial for tourists.

Taxi:
The taxi is one of the best and probably also the safest way of transport in Cape Town. The official taxi's are more expensive and more reliable than unofficial taxi's.

Tourist bus:

As in every world city, you can also find tourist busses in Cape Town. These busses will give you a perfect sightseeing of the city.
The hop-on, hop-off busses in Cape Town (the Cape Town Explorer) uses two routes, the blue line and the red line. One will take you all around the table mountain, while the other will stay around the city centre.
Both busses depart from the V&A Waterfront.

Regional and international busses:
To go from Cape Town into the region, you can take the train. But the train is either expensive or over crowded.
Instead of the train, the bus is probably the best way of transport. There are various regional and international operators which are noth that cheap, but offer excellent services, for example chairs that are more comfortable than airplane chairs.

Several operators are:
Greyhound Cityliner, Translux Intercity and Mainliner Intercape (Also international routes, for example towards Namibia, and Zimbabwe).
