Signal Hill
Signal Hill gives you a beautiful view of the city of Cape Town, from the Lions body. It's probably for that reason why the Dutch started using Signal Hill.
Signal Hill was used by the Dutch to keep an eye on the incomming ships, so the Cape Colony could be warned when enemy ships were aproaching.
Signal Hill was also used to fire the noon gun, so the Cape Colony and the international ships in the harbor could calibrate their watches.
Nowadays, Signal Hill is still used to fire the noon gun, this is one of the oldest VOC traditions still in practice in South Africa.
