Shopping in Barcelona

Barcelona is one of the best cities to go for shopping. There are many Spanish and international designer shops, but also the cheaper 'unknown' shops can be found in the city center. But it is a fact that Barcelona isn't a cheap city to go for shopping.

Barcelona Shopping Line
The 'Barcelona Shopping Line' is a connection of streets with an enormous amount of shops. It starts in the harbor and follows the Rambla all the way until Avinguda Diagonal, the 'Barcelona Shopping Line' turns left here.
This combination of streets has a total length of 5 kilometers of shops and several large warehouses.
If you start at the Rambla, the first shops are all tourist shops, but if you want to go to fashion designers, you have to go past Plaça del Catalunya. But the best shops (although they are most likely also the most expensive) are to be found around the business district of Avinguda Diagonal.

Eixample & Gothic Quarter

Both area's, both on one site of the Rambla, are excellent places to stroll local markets and small fashion boutiques.
Especially if you like culture and architecture, you may and cannot miss these area's.

Openingtimes
Almost all the shops in the city center are opened from Monday till Saterday from 10 a.m. till 8 p.m. with a 'siesta' (= shop closed) between 2 p.m. till 4.30 p.m.
The larger warehouses and the tourist shops are not closed for a siesta and are opened from 10 till 10 and on Sunday's.
