Crime and Safety
For year's, Barcelona had a high crimelevel and was a no go area for tourists, but due to do the Olympic Games in 1992, the crimelevel has been brought down.

Nowaday's, barcelona is a safe place to go, atleast if you keep in mind that Barcelona is a city where millions of people live and many more tourists visit every year. That combination is the perfect match for small crime. Especially in some areas, for example La Rambla, where you will always find a large crowd. Alway's stay aware for thefts an other small crime, if you have the possibillity to leave your valuebles in the hotel, please do so, this can save you a lot of problems.

Whenever you decide to bring your own car into Barcelona, you have to keep in mind that the traffic can be very chaotic, especially in and around the city center. Never stop if somebody tells you there is something wrong with your car, if you do, you will be the victem of theft and robbery. Alway's drive with your doors locked and windows closed, this will prevent theft of small items laying on the rear seat of the car.
